No Mercury or Metal Fillings
Many patients are familiar with the amalgam fillings made of
silver-mercury. They have been used for many years in dental
practices, and some practices still use them. They have some
shortcomings, as metal does not bond tightly to the surface of a
tooth. This allows decay to eventually set in under the filling.
Patients do not like the appearance of a dark filling in light
teeth, as it is very noticeable and not attractive.
We do not use fillings with any metal in them. Ours are made of
composite resin that bonds well and actually adds strength to
teeth. As it adheres tightly to the tooth, there is little
chance of decay setting in under or around the filling. They are
made to match the shade of the tooth and are nearly invisible to
enhance, not detract from your smile.
