No Mercury or Metal Fillings
Many patients are familiar with the amalgam fillings made of
silver-mercury. They have been used for many years in dental
practices, and some practices still use them. They have some
shortcomings, as metal does not bond tightly to the surface of a
tooth. This allows decay to eventually set in under the filling.
Patients do not like the appearance of a dark filling in light
teeth, as it is very noticeable and not attractive.
We do not use fillings with any metal in them. Ours are made of
composite resin that bonds well and actually adds strength to
teeth. As it adheres tightly to the tooth, there is little
chance of decay setting in under or around the filling. They are
made to match the shade of the tooth and are nearly invisible to
enhance, not detract from your smile.
Veneers Veneers are thin shells crafted of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front side of teeth. Unlike bonding, it is necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your tooth to accommodate the shell. Based on a model of your mouth, they are meant to look like your natural teeth. When You Will Need a Crown
If a tooth is broken or a cavity very large, a regular filling
will not restore it to full functionality. A crown will be
placed over it to save the tooth and give it the strength it
needs. Our crowns look very natural and are made of the best
quality materials. It looks so beautiful, you cannot distinguish
it from your other teeth.
Many things can cause these symptoms, which can make it difficult to diagnose. Possible causes include sinus problems, toothache, arthritis, injury, teeth grinding, gingivitis or problems with your jaw like TMJ. Your dentist will conduct a thorough exam, which may include X-rays, to determine the source of the pain.
Crowns A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. Professional
Cleanings Contribute to Your Good Health
We recommend having your teeth cleaned at regular intervals to
maintain overall health. Regular brushing may remove most
plaque, but sometimes hard-to-reach areas are missed, allowing
plaque to build up and harden into tartar. Regular brushing or
flossing will not remove it, and if tartar accumulates in
pockets in the gums, you take a chance of developing periodontal
(gum) disease. Medical research has made a connection between
serious health problems of stroke, diabetes, and heart
conditions with untreated gum infections. Please take our advice
seriously for good health.
A cracked or broken tooth can happen for a variety of reasons- brittle teeth, teeth grinding, injury. The crack may be invisible to the naked eye and even X-ray, but they can be incredibly painful and create bigger problems if left untreated. If you experience pain when chewing see your dentist. They can diagnose the cause and develop a plan for treatment.
Whitening When it comes to getting a whiter and brighter smile, there are a variety of teeth-whitening products you can try. Your main options are in-office and at-home bleaching. Before starting any whitening treatment, you should speak with your dentist. Your dentist will tell you what, if any, whitening procedures will work best for you. Wine tasters may be at high risk for enamel stain and erosion. Why? Sipping wine many times a day -- and swishing it in the mouth -- increases the enamel's exposure to damaging acids. That is why it's better to drink a glass of wine, soda, or sweet tea with a meal instead of sipping it over several hours.
